Getting Ready

Another year, another idea, another attempt at a novel.

Of the other four years I participated in NaNoWriMo I never finished.

This year I would like to finish.

In the past I couldn't finish due to work constraints but in 2005 I actually lost usage of my right hand about ten days into the month. In January 2006 I had extensive hand/arm reconstruction due to twenty years of ignored carpal tunnel syndrome. Never ignore it, folks, it only gets worse and there is no greater frustration than trying to wipe your ass with the wrong hand or attempt to navigate the shower with your dominant arm/hand in a fingertip to armpit cast casted into a position like you are perpetually hitchhiking. It made for an interesting winter of 2005/2006 but unfortunately not a winter that I actually was able to finish. Before the cast came off I got quite good at typing with just my left hand but it precipitated additional surgery on the other hand.

I have some sympathy now for what Christ must have suffered by having wounds in his hands, but He didn't have Vicodin.

Off Vicodin and invincible in my hands. This is the year I WILL finish!
